This proposed design is for a luxury hotel and restaurant in South Devon, positioned on the banks of the River Dart. The grounds of the hotel command impressive views of the surrounding countryside and river.

The gardens include a walled kitchen garden that provides fruit and vegetables to the hotel's kitchen, a swimming pool and terrace with breath taking views onto the river and an impressive landform in the form of earth terraces at the front of the hotel, which are a contemporary take on the traditional Devon hedge bank.

The layout of the garden is designed to immerse visitors into the surrounding landscape, drawing inspiration from the whiplash curves of the River Dart, giving the impression the grounds have been carved into the hillside by water.

This design was shortlisted for the Society of Garden Designers Student Awards 2016.
