Cancer Research UK - ‘The Pledge Pathway to Progress Garden’

Tom will be returning to RHS Hampton in July 2019, this time working with Cancer Research UK. ‘The Pledge Pathway to Progress Garden’ stands as a tribute to those who have pledged legacy gifts in their Wills to Cancer Research UK. The garden is designed to be an immersive walk-through space, open to visitors to the show. With its striking curved layout the garden is formed of a pathway that meanders through a richly scented and vibrant planting scheme. At the centre of the space is a sunken seating area that encourages visitors to sit, pause, relax and reflect. Dotted through the planting are beautifully carved timber posts with the names of a selection of pledgers and researchers whose support and work is vital to the progress being made to one day beat cancer. These sculptural pieces, called ‘name-stakes’, act as a way of remembering and paying tribute to those people who are helping the charity to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured, with the hope that it might inspire more people to pledge a legacy gift to Cancer Research UK.

The RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival is from 2nd - 7th July. Tickets available from the RHS website.
